Dental implants are tiny titanium posts which are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone integrates with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for the crown, bridge, denture, or other restoration. Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. They can help preserve facial structure by preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing. Someone who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and smile with confidence, knowing that their teeth look natural.

Evaluation for Dental Implants

If you are interested in implant dentistry, come in for a consultation. We will do an exam, take the images and impressions we need, and assess your health history. If this is the choice for you, you will need to undergo a dental/radiographic examination. At this time, we will address your specific needs. Your questions and concerns are important to us, and our team will work with you very closely to make your procedure a success.

Dental Implant Procedure

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures. First, the implant is surgically placed within your jawbone. Three to six months later, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums, gradually integrating with the bone. You may be able to wear a temporary replacement tooth during this time.

After the implant has integrated completely with bone, the second phase begins. An impression is made of the site to fabricate the implant crown. Then we connect the crown to the implant using an attachment.

The entire procedure can take a long time, but most patients do not experience any disruptions in their daily lives.
